ACCC does not oppose Aurizon’s proposed acquisition of One Rail (subject to divestiture)

The ACCC has accepted a court-enforceable undertaking from Aurizon to divest One Rail’s east coast business and, with that undertaking in place, the ACCC will not oppose the deal.

ACCC Chair, Gina Cass-Gottlieb, noted that without the divestment the deal would have reduced main competitors from three to two, but with the divestiture ‘there will remain three main suppliers of coal haulage in New South Wales and Queensland’.
