The Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, announced at a Press Club address that the ACCC would be directed to examine pricing practices of supermarkets and the relationship between wholesale and retail prices.

An issues paper was released on 29 February 2024
Submissions on the issues paper are due by 2 April 2024
Consumers are invited to compete a survey by 2 April 2024
An interim report will be provided to the Government later in 2024
A final report is due to be provided to the Government in early 2025
