ACCC issues draft determination in Screen Producers Australia collective negotiation authorisation application

The ACCC issued a draft determination proposing not to authorise Screen Producers Australia to negotiate with broadcasters and streaming platforms, noting that while it would have benefits for some producer members, it could ‘reduce the ability of some producers and broadcasters and/or major streaming platforms to reach agreement on particular contracts’. It is not satisfied likely public benefit would outweigh likely public detriment.

A final determination will be published in June 2026
