ACCC authorisations, re-authorisations and notifications

The ACCC has announced several authorisations in the past few weeks, including:

Authorisations and re-authorisations

• re-authorising Gateway Network Governance Body Ltd to make and give effect to clauses of Memorandum of Understanding between GNGB and Gateway Operators for 10 years (6 Oct 2021)

• authorising (interim and conditional) Medicines Australia arrangements to ‘ensure supply of essential medicines and devices during COVID-19 pandemic’ (30 Sept 2021)

• authorising the Australian Directors’ Guild and members to collectively negotiate model terms of engagement with Screen Producers Australia (29 Sept 2021)

• authorising (interim and conditional) the Australia New Zealand Industrial Gas Association, members and other medical oxygen suppliers to exchange information and make arrangements ‘to ensure security of supply to hospitals and similar medical facilities in the event of significant demand increases or supply constraints during the COVID-19 pandemic’ (29 Sept 2021)

• authorising the Reserve Bank Health Society ‘to continue to engage another health insurer, Peoplecare Health Limited, to provide a range of administrative, operational and management services’ for 10 years (23 Sept 2021)

• authorising Toowoomba Regional Council and Western Downs Regional Council to ‘jointly prepare and advertise a request for tender (RFT) for waste and recyclables collection, bulk haulage and processing services’ for three years (23 Sept 2021)

Authorisations (draft determinations)

• proposing to authorise joint procurement of waste collection services by Surf Coast Shire Council, Golden Plains Shire Council and the Borough of Queenscliffe (30 Sept 2021)

• proposing to re-authorise the various states and territories to ‘coordinate with various health service providers, in order to maximise the effectiveness of their responses to the continued COVID-19 pandemic’ for 18 months (28 Sept 2021)

• proposing to authorise the Gippsland Waste and Resource Recovery Group and six councils to ‘jointly tender, procure and manage glass and mixed recycling processing services’ (23 Sept 2021)

Notifications

• not objecting to Capital Brewing and Bentspoke’s notification to collectively bargain with GIO Stadium Canberra (9 Sept 2021)
