Cartel-related criminal obstruction charges laid by CDPP

The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions has laid charges against Jason Ellis, former general manager at BlueScope Steel Limited, alleging that he incited ‘the obstruction of a Commonwealth official in the performance of their functions’.

ACCC Chair, Rod Sims, stated:

These obstruction allegations are very serious. This is the first time an individual has been charged with inciting the obstruction of a Commonwealth official in relation to an ACCC investigation

Separate civil proceedings filed by the ACCC against BlueScope Steel are currently before the Federal Court.
